چکیده
Based on the ability of microalgae to purify industrial processing waters, overall aim this study was evaluate whether currently wasted shrimp waters could be used as microalgal growth media produce new protein-enriched food and feed ingredients. Low molecular weight (LMW) fractions boiling water (SBW) which had been pre-flocculated using alginate (AL), carrageenan (CA), chitosan (CH) or Superfloc C-592 recover protein via flotation, were for cultivation Chlorella sorokiniana Auxenochlorella protothecoides a biomass. CH-derived induced highest rates both species with A. out-performing C. sorokiniana. best assimilated phosphate-phoshorous (P-PO4) total phosphorous (TP) in all media; ?63 mg/L ? 45 after 4 days, respectively. In upscaled aerated cultures CH- AL-derived media, P TP uptake increased up 85 127 mg/L, Further, 63% free amino acids (AA) waters. Biomasses derived from SBW contained 37–43% 15.0–17.4% fatty (FA) per DW; 38–40% essential AA (EAA) 21.3–22.5% polyunsaturated FA (PUFA), respectively Corresponding numbers biomass cultivated control 11 53%, FA, respectively, 38% 15.6% EAA PUFA, Ability assimilate AA, generate protein-rich LMW-fractions thus revealed first time, paves way SBW-based biorefinery comprising chemical, physical microbial processes multiple products.

Dual-mode cultivation of Chlorella protothecoides applying inter-reactors gas transfer improves microalgae biodiesel production.
Chlorella protothecoides, a lipid-producing microalga, was grown heterotrophically and autotrophically in separate reactors, the off-gases exiting the former being used to aerate the latter. Autotrophic biomass productivity with the two-reactor association, 0.0249gL(-1)h(-1), was 2.2-fold the value obtained in a control autotrophic culture, aerated with ambient air. Fatty acid productivity was ...
متن کاملEngineering characterisation of a shaken, single-use photobioreactor for early stage microalgae cultivation using Chlorella sorokiniana.
This work describes the characterisation and culture performance of a novel, orbitally shaken, single-use photobioreactor (SUPBr) system for microalgae cultivation. The SUPBr mounted on an orbitally shaken platform was illuminated from below. Investigation of fluid hydrodynamics indicated a range of different flow regimes and the existence of 'in-phase' and 'out-of-phase' conditions. Quantifica...

In this study, the heterotrophic production potential of the secondary carotenoid lutein by the green microalgae Auxenochlorella protothecoides SAG 211-7a was investigated. A sequential statistical technique was applied to optimize modified bold’s basal media (MBB) to enhance the lutein production from microalgae Auxenochlorella protothecoides SAG 211-7a. Taguchi orthogonal array method was app...
متن کاملThe effects of glucose, nitrate, and pH on cultivation of Chlorella sp. Microalgae
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Bioenergy is a phenomenon that has attracted humans’ attention for about a century. The desirable biological properties of chlorella sp.microalgae have turned it to one of the most ideal options for the production of biodiesel. However, the economic issues must be taken into account in its industrial scale production. The present study aims t...
متن کاملAntitumor activity of Chlorella sorokiniana and Scenedesmus sp. microalgae native of Nuevo León State, México
Cancer cases result in 13% of all deaths worldwide. Unwanted side effects in patients under conventional treatments have led to the search for beneficial alternative therapies. Microalgae synthesize compounds with known in vitro and in vivo biological activity against different tumor cell lines. Therefore, native microalgae from the State of Nuevo Leon, Mexico may become a potential source of a...
